Gear Up for Summer Driver Education!
Hello Parents and Students,
Are you ready to hit the road? We are excited to announce that enrollment for our Summer Driver Education course is now open! We’ve updated our format this year to a blended learning model to give students more flexibility while ensuring they gain the essential skills to stay safe behind the wheel.
Here is everything you need to know about the new requirements:
Phase 1: Online Coursework (Canvas)
Before students can start the engine, they must master the rules of the road online.
-
Platform: All lessons will be hosted on Canvas.
-
Time Commitment: Expect to spend 30–40 hours completing the modules.
-
Timeline: The course opens on April 27th and must be 100% complete by May 28th.
-
Phase 2: "Behind the Wheel"* (In-Person)
*A partnership with The Alliance of Southwest Missouri
Once the digital heavy lifting is done, it’s time for the hands-on experience!
New Requirement: Students must have a valid Missouri Driving Permit in hand before they can begin any "Behind the Wheel" hours.
-
Requirements: Students must complete 4 hours of driving and 8 hours of observation.
-
Crucial Note: Students cannot schedule their driving hours until all Canvas coursework is finished. Completion is your green light!
